Your Representatives

What is a Representative?
The United States of America has three branches of government: the Legislative (Congress) that writes the laws; the Executive (President) that implements the laws; the Judicial (Courts) that enforces the laws.
Congress has two houses: the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Each state has two senators and multiple representatives depending on population. California has 52 representatives, each elected by a geographic district of approximately 760,000 people.
This means that you are represented by two senators and one representative at the federal level. They vote on laws, advocate for your interests, and help you navigate government services.
We also have elected representatives in the legislatures of our state and local government.
