Every second Wednesday, the San José Neighborhood CERT team in District 10 meets to discuss emergency preparedness. This group of volunteers is trained in Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), a City-sponsored program to empower residents to help themselves and their neighbors in emergencies.

Firefighter Community Safety Outreach Event
Hosted by District 10 Councilmember George Casey and the San José Fire Department. Join us for a fun evening of free pizza to show our appreciation to our local firefighters for their service and hear from them on community safety.

Signature Author Event 2025 featuring Vicky Nguyen
Join the San José Public Library Foundation for their upcoming Signature Author Event on November 15 featuring NBC News Daily Anchor, Chief Investigative Correspondent, and Boat Baby author Vicky Nguyen as she tells the story of her family’s daring escape from communist Vietnam and her unlikely journey from refugee to reporter.
Ticket sales help the San José Public Library Foundation raise funds and awareness of the San José Public Library.

Thankful Together Celebration
Hosted by Almaden Valley Community Association, let's celebrate the amazing people who make Almaden Valley shine! Join for a fun evening of good food, great company, and heartfelt thanks as they honor local volunteers. There will be savory and sweet samplings from local eateries, and drawing prizes. Almaden Library Book Sale
A fall book sale hosted by Friends of the Almaden Library. They have children’s books, mysteries, craft books, fiction, coffee table books and biographies. A variety of non-English books are also available. Music CDs and movie DVDs too! Adult hard back books are $3 and adult paperback books are $2. Children’s books have various prices.

Though it’s not mandatory, we recommend bringing a laptop to follow along with the slides.
